Plan: My Design based on one at menards
Kathryn wanted a raised deck planter to go (wait for it... on the deck!). We saw a decent one at Menards that I based my dimensions off of but a different construction.
I used treated lumber. The legs were cut down from 6x6 stock. Trimmed at the bottom for a nice look. I made big 3/4 dados in the leges to fit the sides (3/4 treated plywood). The sides were two 1x pieces tongue and grooved joined together and the tops rounded over. The bottom I just used 3/4 treated plywood and screwed it too the sides.
Easy project. Kathryn really likes it (and uses it). But- a design flaw. In two years I noticed that the bottom was badly sagging and looked like it was about to fall out and the sides looked to almost be ready to fail at the joints to the legs.
See a later blog post for my much more robust redo (2019) as well as making a second one.
